Q: If I am a current student at Mansfield University, do I have to apply to summer school?
A: No. Talk to your advisor regarding your summer course selection and register online using WebAdvisor

Q: This is the first time I am taking a class at Mansfield, how do I register?
A: If this is the first time you are registering for a class at Mansfield University, select the courses you want and then complete the appropriate application found on our How to Register page.

Q: Can I register for coursework if I am a high school student?
A:
Yes. Our College Bound Program is for serious high school learners who know they will go to college, want to explore their potential for college work, or who want to study subjects not normally available in high school. Applicants must be recommended by their high school guidance counselor and must demonstrate the ability to think critically and analytically. Contact our Admissions Office by e-mail or by calling 800-577-6826 for assistance in registering for summer school.

Q: Is summer school open to anyone?
A:
Summer Sessions at Mansfield University are open to all students who have earned a high school diploma or GED. Enrollment in summer school does not imply or guarantee admission or re-admission to Mansfield University.

Q: How many total credits may I register for each session?
A:
The policy regarding the number of credits for which a student may register during the summer sessions at Mansfield University is as follows:  Students may not take more than six credits during one session (SU or SF) for a total of 12 credits for the entire summer.  Students taking six credits in session I (IA & IB) and/or II will be considered full-time for that session. All requests for credits greater than six must be petitioned to the Dean of the Faculty. Petition forms are available on the Registrar's Web Page under Forms.

Q: How much will summer school cost me?

Curriculum

Q: How do I transfer credits taken at Mansfield University back to the University/College I am currently attending?
A:
Many students take coursework at Mansfield University and transfer the credits back to the University/College they are attending. Select the course(s) you want to enroll in and contact your University for approval. Then complete the application (see How to Register for complete instructions). At the completion of your coursework at Mansfield, contact our Registrar's Office to request that a transcript be sent to your University.

Q: Do grades and credits count toward graduation?
A:
Yes. All academic coursework meets academic departmental standards and earns Mansfield University credits. A Matriculated student should meet with your advisor to verify appropriate course selection for your academic program.

Q: How long is each summer session?
A:
There are three sessions:

  • Session 1A May 19 - June 5 (three weeks)
  • Session IB June 9 - 26 (three weeks)
  • Session II June 30 - August 1 (five weeks)

During the three week sessions, classes meet four days per week (usually Monday - Thursday, with the exception of Memorial Day) for approximately 3 hours and 25 minutes. Classes in the five week session will meet Monday - Friday for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Q: My courses require that I log in to Blackboard - how do I do this?
A:
Blackboard is a course management platform used by instructors for both online and classroom courses. Students log in to Blackboard using their MU email username and password. For more information, visit our Blackboard page.

Q: What do I do if I need to drop or withdraw from my summer classes?
A:
Contact the Registrar's Office as soon as your plans to take a course at Mansfield University change to avoid incurring charges. The drop schedule is available on the Registrar's website.  The student may drop the course through WebAdvisor through the end of the drop period.  The withdrawal from a course requires obtaining a form from the Registrar's Office, acquiring the instructor's signature and returning the completed form to the Registrar's Office for processing.   The refund schedule is available from the Student Accounts website.

Q: Is on-campus housing available during the summer?
A:

Q: How do I access my Mansfield University email account?
A:
All students registered for coursework for summer will receive a Mansfield Email account. For specific information on your email account & technology on campus, access the link for our TechConnect Survival Guide on our Student Technology Services web page. Once registered for classes, access the My Accounts page for your email account and default password.

Q: How can I access the Library from off-campus?
A:
If you are only taking online coursework we will provide your unique number to be used to access the library from off-campus. If you do not receive this information by the first day of class, contact us.

Students taking on-campus(classroom) coursework will be issued a student ID card by the CCSI Office. This card is used to access Library Services. The CCSI Office is located in the Alumni Hall Student Center 327. Visit the CCSI Office webpage for their office hours. There is a $5.00 charge for new student I.D. cards.

Q: How do I find out about books?
A:
Summer 2008 class textbooks will be available on our website mansfieldbookstore.com on May 12, 2008 for students to reserve or purchase their textbooks. Both procedures require a credit card for payment, reserving your books will allow us to box up the books you request and have them ready for you to pick up before classes. Purchasing is for the student that needs their books shipped to them and will be charged a shipping charge.

The Campus Bookstore will have extended hours on May 12th, June 9th, and June 30th 8:00a.m. - 6:00p.m. Our regular summer hours are Monday through Friday 8:00a.m. - 4:00p.m. For questions or comments please call 570-662-4922.
